Personally, I’d take Who’s Next over Quadrophenia.

This could be argued until the cows come home…

There’s no denying that Who’s Next is a nearly flawless album. It gets even better if you buy the new remastered version with all the outtakes. You know a great album when the outtakes can stand up on their own.

Unfortunately, almost every song on Who’s Next is a stable on every classic rock station in the country. I just can’t listen to it anymore.

Quadrophenia, the highly ambitious followup to Who’s Next, almost never leaves my rotation. It has a few hits- 5:15, The Real Me, and Love Reign O’er Me, but like “The Wall”, it is one large song cycle that must be played in it’s entirety to grasp the genious.

I quit listening to classic rock stations so it’s always fresh for me when I listen to it.

    You’re better for it!

Hey speaking of the Kinks. I’m currently listening to Village Green Preservation Society. They’re playing it on China Radio International!!

Have you all ever heard the album “Man Who Built America” by Horslips? Terrific stuff too….

  7. CP Says:

I have the Horslips album “short stories, tall tales” that I bought at the old Co-op when it was on Main street in the building that later became a Walgreens. They remind me a bit of the Only Ones.

  8. PeoriaIllinoisan Says:

Is that before my time? I always thought Co-Op was in the One World building on the corner, and the used record store was in the Avantis building before it moved to the building next to Walgreens (which was later torn down to build the parking lot for Jimmy Johns.)

  9. CP Says:

I wrote a long comment about the old coop, but it must have gone into cyberspace because it’s not here. So instead of rewriting the whole dang thing, I’ll keep it brief :) Yes the old, old co-op was in the walgreens building next to jimmy johns. They closed it around 1985.
