A Tribute to John Hancock

This is the grave of John Hancock.

Notice the small picture frame leaning up against it at the bottom. Here’s a closer view:

Tampa Preparatory School is, as far as I can find, a private advanced honors school based in Tampa Florida for grades 6 – 12. The text of the picture is this:

In Memory of

John Hancock

First to sign

Wealthy, Rich

Helped to find this country of mine

How is it that a minimum 6th grader at a honors grade school doesn’t understand grammer… and even if it’s a smaller child, what about the line “Weathy, Rich”. Is that what John Hancock is known for, and is that really why we honor people? What does this say about private schooling, and why would their teacher think this is good? I took the picture because I thought it was cute that a first or second grade class would do this, but now I’m a little troubled and somewhat baffled.

By the looks of that monument, I’d say his signature wasn’t a case of John overcompensating after all.

Could that thing be any more phallic?

the teacher mostly chose on the most artistic and creative, and not very many 8th graders(for that is the grade that the kids visit the monument) are very artistic, or even care about John Hancock. Admittedly, the grammar is bad, but that is definitely not what their teacher thinks John Hancock was like. If you decide to visit the memorial again this year, I can tell you there wont be grammatical errors. : )
