The Story Behind The Banned Commenter

I picked up my copy of the Community Word last night while on a life or death milk run.  In it, Bill Dennis has an article on first amendment rights and why he felt he had to ban a certian “knucklehead” from commenting.  There isn’t a link to the article on the CW website yet, but I also don’t want to retype the entire thing.  If you haven’t picked up a copy, here’s the juicy part that some people are curious about:

“It’s one thing to say someone’s an idiot.  It’s quite another to say that someone is a pedophile, simply because they have a political disagreement with you.”

“So that’s why I banned the guy from making comments- the first permanent ban I’ve ever put on anyone.  No apologies.  Funny, I don’t feel like Stalin.”

“By the way, the guy has been whining about how I’m censoring him, even though he has his own blog, and doesn’t allow readers to post their own comments to his posts.”

Agree or disagree, there’s answer as to why Vonster is banned.  Why he chose to publish that information in the Community Word, but wouldn’t reveal it on his blog, I’m not sure.

  1. Vonster Says:

Mr. Dennis is mistaken about what was said. And he is now treading dangerous ground over the same issue he was mistakenly concerned about.

  2. Josh Harris Says:

That’s kind of funny that he won’t blog about work, but he writes about his blog at work.

  3. Bill Dennis Says:

For those who don’t know, Vonster is unbanned.
