Pekinites continue to show their bigotry
The Journal Star reports on the front page that 3 Hucks gas stations in Pekin and one in Farmington were sold, to be rebranded and upgraded. So why is there a boycott underway and most of the 40 employees quit?
During the process of the sale, the new owners were not allowed to talk about the sale to the employees prompting the rumours that “Iranians, or possibly Iraqis bought the chain and were taking over.”Â
Let’s let employee Beth Bugg explain: “I didn’t know what to expect,” she said, adding she had heard they were either Iranians or Iraqis. That concerned her.
After meeting with the new owners she says “I give everybody a chance. I don’t care what color they are.”
Right… is that what you were thinking when you and everyone else quit because there was a rumor that “ARABS” were “taking over”?
I’d bet most of those who want to boycott the new owners of Hucks also support the War in Iraq and want to free the Iraqi people from oppression… but only if they stay out of Pekin!

I loved that ” I give everybody a chance” quote. That was classic.
Sadly, I ran this story by my boss at work who I thought was a pretty cool guy. He’s from Pekin and currently lives there and when I showed him this story, he said he agreed with them. He then went on a tangent about how anyone with less than three or four syllables in their name won’t be able to get any of the good jobs around here in the future.
Very disappointing yet not unexpected.
Regarding Kerry……don’t let the door hit you on the way out. What a flash in the pan.

That was so totally horrifying a story. Particularly in an area with such a large Middle Eastern (Lebanese) community. And, oh my God, if they’re an Iranian or Iraqi who CAME TO THE U.S. ON PURPOSE, I’m going to assume THEY’RE NOT SO MUCH IN FAVOR OF TERRORIST REGIMES!
What also bothered me about the article was where it said: “The new store owners are Christians …”
As if if they were MUSLIMS, it’d be OKAY for everyone to be freaked out and quit. So disturbing.

The only person of color who lives in Pekin is Edgar Sandoval who coaches soccer for Aryan Pro-Hitler Blond-haired ditzes. LOL

this story does have some sort of basis. And this may be it. The old super liquor stores and several gas stations in the area are owned by muslim arabs. have any of you had a talk with some of the muslim arabs in this area? why don’t you strike up a conversation with some of them (if they won’t be reticent these days) over americas relations with israel or it’s mideast policies and hear how much they love america. you may be chilled when you hear them say america deserves whatever it gets while Arab TV blares in the background of their store.
