Darn, I'll have to do some real soul searching now because I've always considered myself an excellent speller.

I think the same qualities of a good Principal are the same as those of a good parent- Fair and friendly, but having and showing the ultimate power of authority. A good parent, as is a principal is a teacher of morals, respect, right and wrong. A good parent and principal is NOT and should NOT be the child's best friend.

Not to be the spelling police, but I thought you'd want to know that he's the "principal," not the "principle." When I was in grade school, they taught us to remember it ended with "pal" instead of "ple" by having us remember that the principal is our "pal." Ha ha ha! We all got a good laugh out of that back then -- we were deathly afraid of the guy. He had a paddle, and could use it.

We were all very well-behaved back then. I'm so glad they've gotten rid of the paddle and fear now. We're so chummy and friendly that some kids don't think twice about bringing a gun or knife to school... Yes, we certainly are progressive.
