What is interesting is that I have the Yahoo\IE browser that has tabs. On each tab\webpage you open, it lists the website & most of the time a small graphic, ie Ebay has their Ebay graphic. Guess which graphic showed up next to Hacker’s Child? City of Peoria…..
Wish I was computer savvy enough to “take a picture of it”. I’ll just save it in case anyone is curious.
I didn’t sleep through it. I woke up at about 10:30 a.m., got a call from my brother and he took me out to lunch. I went from there to my sister’s house, to home and checked my mail and saw three e-mails, but the site was back to normal by then.
You’ve gotta love hackers who are polite enough to clean up after themselves.
I still changed all my passwords and backed up all my data, but I doubt it will do any good should they decide to do it again.
Check the access logs Bill, they will start to point you in the right direction. If you need some assistance let me know; I will be more than happy to help you.

Bill uses that City of Peoria logo for his blog. These hackers probably highjacked it, so to speak.

I’ll bet Billy is fuming. I know I would be. Don’t people have anything better to do than go around hacking other people’s websites?

More specifically, web browsers look for a file called favicon.ico at the root level of a website to get that little graphic.
It looks like the hackers took over the entire WordPress installation, but didn’t modify the file: http://peoriapundit.com/favicon.ico
