It’s a WILCO Fest…
Anyone that reads this blog knows I’m kind-of a music nut. Mostly good ol’ fashion rock’n'roll- Dylan, Beatles, Who, Stones, Young, and everything inbetween.
I have trouble finding modern music that fits my taste, and I imagine that many of you feel the same way as I do (old and out of touch).
I’m not sure how or why I found WILCO, but before I even got out of the Best Buy parking lot, I was hooked. It was earthy like The Band and the The Kinks, depressing like the Cowboy Junkies, rocked like Neil Young at his best, featured feedback at it’s finest, ala Pete Townshend, and yet had a uniquely new and exciting sound.
As a fellow music lover, I strongly encourage you to check them out on my music blog, and then pick up an album or two. Choose anyone you want, they’re all undeniably essential.

PI,
Do you happen to read Paste magazine? If not, I’d strongly suggest it. It comes with a cd every issue and periodically a dvd filled with music videos and performances.
It’s pretty good.

Have you seen “I am Trying to Break Your Heart” yet? It comes with a full recommendation. But, I highly recommend everything Wilco-related. Especially seeing them live in concert…
Next time they play in Madison we will have to have you and the Mrs. come up to visit.

You’re right, sct, I need to look into that. I’ve picked up an issue here or there, and always enjoyed it.
Melissa, you know I’d love to see them. I remember telling CP about this great new band I found- he gave me a DUH, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?

Wilco is my favorite band on the planet right now. I’m hoping to make the drive from Peoria to East Lansing to catch them in early October, assuming I can get tickets.
