Are criminals becoming more brazen or do I just notice it more?

The location of the beating is at the curve of Main Street and Western, near Farmington Road. What get’s me is that it took place at 2:30 in the afternoon. This is no empty neighborhood street or dark alley, it’s a major traffic area in the middle of the afternoon!
If you recall, just a few weeks ago an elderly woman was bruised and beaten during a robbery after having dinner at One World. Main and University. I would never think to be robbed in broad daylight or even early evening on the sidewalk of a major intersection.
What’s going on around here?
I must stop and question myself- is crime really getting worse, or am I just paying more attention? I’ve always been a news junkie, but I can say with 100% certainty that I pay even more attention since I started Blogging. Which is why I ask again- is crime really getting worse, or am I just paying more attention?

We’re paying more attention to the crime because the crime rate *is* going up.

The smokers outlet is a gambling hall, there are a line of video poker machines in there with office chairs in front of them. People will play for hours and spend hundreds of dollars on those machines. Crime in front of an illegal casino does not surprise me one bit. Betcha they are still gambling there as we speak, and will be no matter how many times the police are are called to the area for various crimes.

Crime is worse!!! The gangs have figured out the truth, they run the show. Used to be that they just controled the streets at night. Now they have figured out that they can get away with it in broad daylight. If you had seen what was going on would you have stopped? Most of these young gangbangers are packing, so stopping only gets you shot. Give them the money, take the beating, and live to see a new day.
Just my thinking, I am sure that the police chief can give all the stats as to how crime is really going down.

I vote for more brazen. Criminals just don’t care about who they hurt for the change in your pocket.
