I will not be on TV this week. Or next week. Or the week after that…
As it’s becoming more and more common to see local bloggers on the news, HOI is jumping on the bandwagon. I was invited, as were some other bloggers:
“I’m contacting you as well as some other bloggers in the area because we are launching a new interactive newscast. Part of this is highlighting local blogs every Monday on HOI 19 News at 5. I’m trying to get a few bloggers to agree to come on once a month or once every two months to talk about whatever is happening on their blog that week.”
I responded that while I appreciated the invite, unless watching a blogger pass out on live tv is what they are going after, I would probably not be a good choice. When asked, though I suspect they had already been contacted, I suggested Billy Dennis, CJ Summers, Eyebrows McGee, Scott Janz and Knight in Dragonland would all be good choices, as they have all been on Radio or TV previously, thus greatly reducing the possibility of on-air fainting.
It was nice to be asked, but unless I’m promised only five people will be watching, it won’t happen.
Best of luck to whoever takes the gig.

Let me get this straight, you had a chance to be on tv and turn it into a youtube video and you turned it down? What are you thinking?

A little case of the TV jitters is nothing 10 or 12 beers before you go on the air can’t fix.

PI,
You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself, you’d do fine.
I on the other hand, who can’t leave a simple answering machine message without getting nervous, would be a wreck.
