Actually, not as weird as you would think. Not only do they make cat leashes, but they also sell cat strollers (like a cat carrier on wheels).
I say go for it!!

Ok, we have a cat leash, and the family took the cat for a “walk” while I was at work a few days ago.
I had to ask, dumbfoundedly, why in the world do they make cat leashes, and how the walk went. I’ll bet he just rolled around on the front sidewalk, I said.
Yea, my wife answered, pretty much.
A cat stroller? I like my cat, but that’s a bit more than I can take.

You have to train the cat to the leash from a very young age.

We use to take our rabbit for a walk when I was younger. Great way to meet the neighbors as a cat or rabbit on a leash is a conversation piece.
