The River Station is listening
This comment from a few days ago on my post about my experience at the River Station probably went un-noticed by most, but I thought it was interesting enough to reprint.
Tracy Nichols: I appreciate all the comments about the restaurant. The Kansas city strip will be removed with the next menu print. The chunks in the Bisque are for garnish and they are shrimp and scallops since it is seafood bisque. We will be offering a early dining experience from 4 to 6, monday thru saturday, that will offer smaller portions and lesser prices. Please keep giving feedback since it helps us understand and meet our guest needs. Chef Kevin- thanks for the tech input as well.
Chef Kevin also recently visited for lunch and posted this review.
Personally, I think they should get rid of the NY Strip and keep the KC Strip, but I could be biased. Though I love New York, I’m a homegrown midwestern guy and I’m also a Chiefs fan.
Update:
The Journal Star ran a glowing review with 4 stars across the board. Can’t say I’ve ever seen that before.

Are you freaking kidding me… you’re a Chief’s fan? Die hard Cubs fan, but the Chief’s??? You are so disowned from the neighborhood!

My friend just had lunch with some co-workers at the River Station. There were nine people so 20% gratuity was included. Then they noticed that each of them had a $1 service fee. Any idea? I’ve seen this done in larger cities but not here.

The service fee and gratuity are one in the same. I am working with our computer company MICROS to have the wording changed. The system adds the gratuity in an itemized fashion on the ticket as gratuity and then subtotals the ticket at the bottom ading them all together but calling it a service fee. I understand your question and it has been driving me crazy trying to get it changed. Bottom line is that the gratuity is only charged once on large parties. Sorry for the confusion.

I think that the Riverstation is the best restaurant in the entire state of Illinois. The food is the best quality that anyone can receive, and it sure seems that they’re cooks know what they are doing. The whole experience of the restaurant is absolutely amazing. I think all of you should without question go in and visit them at the Riverstation. You should also ask if they are serving the fillet special, and if they are you should get it. We got it and it was amazing.
