Dumbest. Thief. Ever.

This burglary was either an inside job or the thief was from out of town, because everyone knows this is where the cops like to hang. Either way, you gotta chuckle at a guy who has the cajones to walk out of a gas station carrying a cash register.

PjStar:

Police continue to look for a man who stole the cash register from a West Bluff gas station Saturday night.

Police were called to a BP gas station, 211 N. Western Ave., about 10:35 p.m. where the robber entered, walked behind the counter and demanded the clerk open the register, police reports said.

The cashier, a 50-year-old man, told the robber he couldn’t open the register until a sales transaction was completed, reports said. The robber then lifted the register off the counter and ran out of the store, taking with him an undisclosed amount of money.

During the robbery, the intruder also allegedly scratched the clerk on the wrist and cut him on the rib cage with an object police suspect was a stick.

The clerk suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Incidentally, I’ve been told the reason the cops hang out here is because not only is it a police friendly place, but it is also centrally located between patrol districts.

Hmmm… you say he’s a dumb thief, yet he got away with not only the cash, but the entire cash register despite the fact that this is the place where the police hang out. I’ll bet a lot of thieves wish they were so dumb.

The police were probably too busy giving out seatbelt tickets or pulling people over for leaving the station without their headlights on.

Of course, there’s always the chance that none of them give a s**t, because they don’t live in the neighborhood and they’re trying to figure out why the ICEE machine isn’t working.

When I saw this article, I knew it would be on here. My question is, if he grabs the whole thing, he’s got his hands full, why didn’t the clerk clock him over the head with something as he’s walking out the door?

Josh, am I that predictable? Next thing you’re going to say is that I’ve got more pictures of Maplewood to put up…

I’ll tell you one thing though, they’re going to find this guy. The cops aren’t going to stand for a burglary at their gas station.

I know for a fact that 4 officers were in that store 5 minutes before the robbery. They all got called to a fight at Steampit Days. They left. As soon as they were out of sight, the robber came in, walked around the counter, pushed the clerk, then stabbed at him with a blunt object, took the cash drawer, which weighs 35 to 40lbs and ran out of the building heading south towards Aurther St. The clerk can be seen on the store’s video calling the police and is still on the phone with the dispatcher when two of the officers that were there earlier come back in. They turned around when they got the call. It was cased and the police know it.
