PI,
Great pics.
One of my memories from DC was when the charter coach driver told the kids “There are a lot of people that will come and ask you for money; I’m not telling you what to do, but a lot of those guys are con artists and actually have houses nicer than any of us.” HUH?
Luckily, we only got panhandled once and it wasn’t in DC, but in Baltimore MD.

I was asked for $1.35 on a subway train, which was the fare, and he said he was short. I didn’t feel like arguing or fishing for change and gave him two bucks. He and his blood shot eyes (which I didn’t notice until later) were very appreciative.
That was the only time I gave any money, and only because he seemed honest. My wife thinks I was conned. So be it.
I noticed that DC was FULL of homeless. Either there actually are more, or the city doesn’t hide them as well as other large cities.

These pics and your narrative in the previous post were so great. Thanks for fueling my wanderlust. I have a friend in DC … time to check airfares …

Thanks, m.
I’m surprised no-one has called me out yet for the PI metro stop. It actually is P.L. (lowercase L, abbreviation for Plaza), but the first time I saw it I thought it said P.I.; the surname given to me by my previous commenter- mapgirl.
Speaking of wanderlust, I’ve got a hardcore case of that but lack both the cash and the lifestyle, which in retrospect is probably why I started driving around and exploring parts of Peoria that I wasn’t familiar with for NTPL (another mapgirl abbreviation, if you’re wondering). Still not sure what to do with the site, by the way.
