Stocking Up for Move In Day at Bradley
…which is this coming Saturday. How do I know that?
Did I read it in the Bradley Scout? No.
Did I notice an increase in traffic? No. (not yet)
Was I awakened in the middle of the night by an off-campus party? No. (not yet)
Did I see a display of Keystone Light 30 packs approximately 10 cases long, 5 wide and 5 high at CampusTown Liquors?
YES!
I didn’t actually stand there and count it, so it may be 8×7x4 or 9×6x5 or multiple other combinations… the bottom line is that there was ALOT of cheap beer stacked up in an otherwise usually empty space.
When I asked the owner if this large display of beer was a sign that Bradley’s move in day was coming up this weekend, he grinned and said “Ahh, you noticed. Well, that’s what they like to drink!”
Update:
It’s 8 cases wide, 7 cases long and 5 cases high for a grand total of 8,400 beers (8×7x5×30)

Well, with the costs of college and student life in general, I guess you can’t be choosy. Or, they just really like crappy beer.

Keystone…. ** shudders **

I’d rather not drink than drink crappy beer.

Never could stand beer or dunk college students, so durring my brief stint at WIU, Macomb, I drove to Galesburg and had a few French Coffees at the Landmark or something like that at one of the other higher class places.
This only happened once in a blue moon, so most of the time I was boringly sober.

I’ve never had Keystone. Our cheap beer of choice was Schlitz. Probably equally horrible.

Never had Schlitz.
Keystone’s sorta like flavored water.

Did they have a big display of Boone’s Farm, too?
Our drink of choice was an awful combo of “Night Train” and Dr. Pepper. Called, of course, “Dr. Night Train.”
I just threw up a little bit, just thinking about that…..

And I still remember a vanload of bongs being unloaded at Co-Op records on main the week before move in day as they got ready for the college freshman. Aside from a cheap case of beer the first thing a many college freshman bought after moving in was their very own 3 foot bong…. ahh the good old days.
