Teacher Schooled by Pupil
It all started with BlogPeoria member ‘katearch1978′ complaining on a local forum about all the spam she was receiving on her Wordpress blog, Notes From The Trailerhood, and having some knowledge of this subject, I offered my assistance and helped set up her Akismet Spam filter.
Not long after, I saw another comment in which she expressed her frustration with BlogPeoria because she couldn’t figure out how to add a sitemeter to her blog, even though she’d been studying computer science.
I emailed her a not-so-brief and somewhat rambling explanation as to why she was having trouble and what she could do to add the sitemeter.
Along with a thank you, I got this as a response:

In the Blog Peoria site admin area, under ‘Manage’ on the ‘Referers’ tab, wouldn’t that show where people are coming from throughout the day? That is a bit of a stat counter then, right?
Whoa, I just got schooled! After all this time, I’ve never clicked on that tab!
* I am not a teacher, nor do I feel katearch1978 is a pupil, but if someone is looking for information on something I find myself knowledgeable of, I will offer my help.
* ‘katearch1978′ is a new Junior League member and is considering joining a committee that is near and dear to my heart. I’d volunteer too, but it’s a girls club. No boys allowed.
* Don’t ever ask for my help because I might just take over.

Wow, PI…I’m glad I was able to show you something you didn’t know.
I was ecstatic and very grateful that you were able to help me with my spam issue. I no longer get offers for Viagra and cheap plane tickets to Buenos Aries 10 times a day.

Then once I knew that I couldn’t add the plug-in I had been trying to add for a couple weeks…what a relief!
Now that you have admitted to control freak tendencies, the next time I get aggravated with a computer issue, you better believe I’ll be bugging you in hope that you’ll just take over.

I swear to God, I’m gonna have to hold a special blogger bash devoted NOT to alcohol consumption, but to showing people how to use WordPress, Blogger, etc.
Not the next Blogger Bash though. THAT one is devoted to eating Buffalo wings.

Went to Buffalo Wild Wings over the weekend. I haven’t been there forever, but I gotta say, it was pretty darn good. Didn’t see Cory though. I thought he lived there.

Some of the stuff carries over. It’s just a matter of being able to find it.
There are bloggers who don’t even know how to upload a photo, for crying out loud.

I was there from around 11 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, but that’s been about it. I haven’t been there nearly as often since the wreck. I have a $500 deductible and I had to buy new tires, which was only $295, but then add another $100 for mounting, balancing, disposal, etc.
I will be probably be at the one in EP on Wednesday night with my girlfriend, one of her coworkers, and her coworker’s boyfriend.
They don’t let me live there. I tried to put a cot in the back, but my snoring was chasing off the customers.
