Hey Look, Honey

The Journal Star wrote an editorial about you.

Huh?

“In this Bradley situation, we’re especially troubled by anecdotal reports of some teens involved spilling over onto private property nearby and getting into a confrontation with the homeowner. Things like that can get out of hand in a hurry.”

Funny, eh?

Yea…

Wow, your wife is famous, well, anecdotally famous.

I bet you feel so warm and fuzzy now that the Journal Star feels you pain.

I’m feeling the fuzz. I also love that they revealed *gasp* not everyone in attendance were Bradley students. The only Bradley kids I saw were the ones sitting on their front porches enjoying a cold beer and watching the ruckus.

“the Bradley show reportedly attracted several hundred kids, many of them not college students”

You know, the confrontation you described could have gotten the kid shot dead. I know if I’d witnessed such an assault on my wife, in my yard, and I had a gun handy, I’d have likely pulled it if not actually shot.

If you’d seen him raise the chunk of concrete to throw at her, at that moment I think you’d have been justified in capping the thug.

And if the cops had been there to see him raise the pavement to throw at here, they might have shot him too. Seems a potentially deadly attack.

Well, my wife actually said it was a good thing I wasn’t there because she knows it would’ve escalated very quickly into much more than what it was, and it was bad already.

I don’t know why no one will look the 500lb gorilla in the eye and just ask; “What the hell is wrong with the black youth in this community?”

I’ve taken note of a lot of racist comments as a result of this talent show , but if you pay close attention we have ignored for many many years the wild parties that take place in the frat and sorority houses( that surround Bradley) and spill into the streets and sometimes into someone elses property. We view their behavior as youthful whims or we say to ourselves well I was a little bit wild myself back in my college days. The truth is a lot of our youth are getting into trouble despite their skin color or social-economic background. I worked drug detox and believe me drugs and alchohol doesn’t have a preference as to who it destroys, whether it be a prominent judge’s daughter or a poor persons son!! Let’s not be so small minded we have a problem that needs to be solved!

I stumbled upon your site by accident and I must say that it has been nostalgic and informative. I am currently stationed in Indiana and this site is like a looking glass into my home away from home that the Journal Star doesn’t come close to. Recently I was back at home and wanted to play Neuman Golf Course, but the Cross Country teams were competing there (why they shut down a golf course during the last good days of play is beyond me). Your blog above does mention that people were trespassing upon private property and I recalled that the Cross-Country teams did the same during their visits by urinating in peoples backyards during the tourney (even though plenty of Porto-potties were placed strategically around the course, upsetting many a senior citizen that have homes on the 15th and 16th holes) One lady complained and was told by one of the coaches that “she needs to go back inside her home and have another cup of coffee”. Had that been my mother or Grandmother, that coach would have had to sip his coffee thru a straw for the rest of his days. It always mazes me that people do things on public and private property that they wouldn’t think about doing on their own.
