Your one stop shop for breaking local news

Sorta.

That would be Peoria.com’s recent addition of a news feed. Similar to Google news and Peoria.com’s Blog feed, it scans the local news outlets and runs links to the stories as they appear on their web sites.

Currently included are the Peoria Journal Star, WHOI, WEEK, WCBU and 1470.

If you’re like me, you tend to gravitate towards one or two of these and likely miss out on some good stories or angles, so this is not only a good way to get them on a level playing field, but to alert you and me of breaking news, whoever breaks it.

You can see the most recent few on Peoria.com’s home page, or on the news page for the full feed.

That was a great idea for the site, PI! I’d make a :o k: smiley but you’ll just have to settle for a visual thumbs up!

PJStar, HOI-19 and WEEK’s news feeds are on Peoria.com.

However, I couldn’t find a good feed for 1470, and the WCBU’s News feed on their home page hasn’t been updated since 2007… If I can get a good RSS feed for these two organizations, I’ll be happy to link to them.

I didn’t know the news page link existed. Thanks for that. I’m sorry to hear that local hog farmers are experiencing a financial loss. Do I see an increase in the price of bacon in the future? Dang it. First gasoline and now this!

The lack of news feeds from Peoria news orgs is appalling.

Pathetic site if you ask me. It doesn’t tell you anything about the story, links only to the ones they want. Too bad people are that lazy.

Actually, it’s automated, and it’s only a small feature of a larger web portal. You’re ignorant if you think someone’s picking and choosing which articles to list, but believe what you want.
