Note to 1470 WMBD-AM
Your web site is painfully slow to load. It’s not quite as bad as the Journal Star’s, but it’s running a close second. You might want to look into that.
While I’m on the subject of 1470, Ken Zurski is still misnaming Pioneer Parkway as THE Pioneer Parkway. I can’t believe I’m the only who cringes everytime he says that.
CEFCU Traffic One Update for Thursday April 10: There is flooding in the roadway on University just south of Forrest Hill.

Pet peeve: People who refer to I74 as “The Interstate” or “The Expressway”.
I am guilty of referring to Pioneer Parkway as “The Parkway”, though. Does that make me a hypocrite? I don’t think it does.

They aren’t that bad, are they? When I clicked on the WMBD link above, it took about 10 seconds to fully load. The PJStar was actually faster – only 7 seconds to fully load. I agree with you though, I am used to clicking on something and it automatically appearing. So, 10 or 7 seconds seems painfully slow.

Goodness but I can remember when the Internets was uphill both ways and took FOREVER! Me and Al Gore used to go brew a pot of coffee over the coal stove whilst we waited for his DOS based BBS to load up!

I’m sorry but you see AlGorecal (allegorical – get it?!) commentary will only work with but a few limited topics and I couldn’t resist. I’m just sayin’ I know slow and this ain’t it. And I am sooooo glad!

I remember the BBS days fondly and how blazingly fast 1200 baud felt at the time, but I could never go back. Fast and slow is all relative.
Cory- yes, that makes you a hypocrite.

But see, I don’t say “The Pioneer Parkway”, I just say “The Parkway”. It’s like how people in Miami Beach refer to A1A as “The Avenue”.

Aah, the Zirch. You just lifted my spirits.
I have been lamenting my absence as the beautiful months of May and June are approaching, and although the weather where I currently live beats Peoria’s 10 months out of the year, I’m afraid there is nothing like the month of May in Peoria, followed closely by the month of June in Peoria.
How beautiful it is to walk along the river in May and June, filling your lungs with the cool air, watching the grass grow in that Peoria shade of green as all the plants and flowers bloom. Main St. on Friday night, Peoria Heights, the flower gardens at Glen Oak Park, hanging with friends on the Patio at Kelleher’s… nothing comes close.
It seems as if this small paradise bursts forth right out of the dreadful Illinois winter and dies just as quickly into the dry, scorching Illinois summer, but for those two small months I have found nothing that compares in all my travels.
Your mentioning of the Zirch made me feel a little better though. Now all I have to do is think of Markley and Luciano… ahhh, all better. Cannonball.
