Another shout-out to Christ Orchard
As some of you know, I’m a huge fan of Christ Orchard. This past weekend we took a trip to the pumpkin patch … to pick pumpkins, obviously. We wandered around, goofed around, found the “perfect” pumpkins still on the vines and wheeled them back to the checkout in the provided wagon. After being given several samples of apple varieties, we added a bag of apples and some apple cider to our purchase.
7 pumpkins of various sizes, a peck of apples and a half gallon of cider totaled just over $32 after tax. Problem was, I didn’t bring enough cash and they don’t accept credit cards. Cash or check only. I guess that’s part of the old fashioned charm of the place, but it left me in a slight dilemma. Throw the pumpkins back in the field? Put the apples and cider back? Beg for mercy?
“Oh… that’s ok, just mail us a check.”
Really?
“Yea. Here’s our address. Just mail us a check for the balance.”
Christ Orchard – Where old fashioned family fun and customer service never goes out of style.

We went at the beginning of the month just to get some pumpkins and look around. Ended up staying over an hour – too many great pumpkins to choose from, sampling apples, watching critters, learning about gourds, getting recipes… Spent more than we planned and got even more than we bargained for. The pumpkin butter is scrumptious. My squash soup turned out delicious.
There’s no question where we’re going for pumpkins and such next year.

Went there today.
It’s the anti-Tanners.
My wife and kids had been there already, but it was my first time and I loved it. Couple jars of jelly, 4 gallons of the cider (best cider I’ve tasted), 2 bags of apples along with some gourds and a pumpkin…topped off with a ride on the swing for our daughter.
It was pretty busy and I can see why.
Well worth the trip.

Just heard about your Orchard. Was wondering if you had directios to your place. I know it’s too late this season but we will try for next season. Bill Lenich
