BNLD

Be careful what you say when you answer the phone.

I just hung up on a representative who said she was from a company named BNLD who wanted to inform me that AT&T had contracted with them to lower our rates.  She rattled off a bunch of numbers about what my current rate was and what it will be; so fast infact, that even as I was coincidentally holding the latest bill in hand, I couldn’t keep up. Multiple times she said she was only calling to inform me of the discount. I said not a word.  I was suspicious and if my suspicions were correct, any sound coming out of my mouth could be misconstrued as an acceptance of her offer, even though she technically had not offered me anything. She was only calling me as a courtesy to let me know of the change, remember? The third time she repeated that part I got annoyed, said I wasn’t interested and hung up. Then I googled.

By the Deputy Chief, Consumer Policy Division, Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau:

In this Order, we consider the complaints alleging that Business Network Long Distance (BNLD) changed Complainants’ telecommunications service providers without to obtaining authorization and verification from Complainants’ in violation of the Commission’s rules. We conclude that BNLD’s actions did result in unauthorized changes in Complainants’ telecommunications service providers and we grant Complainants’ complaints.

In December 1998, the Commission released the Section 258 Order in which it adopted rules to implement Section 258 of the Communications Act of 1934 (Act), as amended by the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (1996 Act). Section 258 prohibits the practice of “slamming,” the submission or execution of an unauthorized change in a subscriber’s selection of a provider of telephone exchange service or telephone toll service.

SUCH crap. BNLD is a company that offers long distance. If you knew anything about long distance you would know that BNLD cannot just switch you without your permission. Most states mandate a 3rd party verification or written authorization in order to make changes to your long distance by a 3rd party. if somebody decides to uawe alskdgfalsjrfl;aksjdflaskjdflsjadlfkjasldkfj;asldkfj;aslkdjfasf uf fuckig stup id cunt whore
