Dear Jamie Markley,
By request, Mason Profit, on Rock 106, the Home of Rock & Roll. (Jamie mentioned on WMBD1470 that this was an oft requested and most hated by DJ central Illinois only classic.) I didn’t buy the claim that it wasn’t known outside of our area, but my wife grew up in Missouri, and after I played it in its entirety, twice, she claimed that she’d never heard the song before in her life, and she really didn’t want to hear it a third time. Having been born and raised here, I recognized it from the first note… call me guilty – I like it.
I’m not into hairbands as Jamie & Phil seem to be fixated on, but I was impressed with Jamie’s reference to the Cowboy Junkies from the previous Friday in regards to the Velvet Underground song Sweet Jane…
They are both great, albeit in different genres.
…but I was disappointed when Jamie wondered what happened to them. The Cowboy Junkies are alive and well. Their music and Margo Timmons are still hauntingly and breathtakingly beautiful.

PI, I think we both know about Mr. Markley’s ignorance of good music. He wouldn’t know a keychange in the spirit of feeling if it smacked him in the balls.

My wife’s favorite band is the Cowboy Junkies. Saw them in Chicago a few years ago. A little too mellow for me….I actually nodded off for a few seconds at one point.

I would love to see them in concert!

I remember hanging out at my brothers house on Sundays mornings listening to the 1060’s on WWCT and hoping Hangman & Signs by Five Man Electrical Band would be played that day.

A popular Stark County booze cruise song.
