Making way for Hy-Vee

sheridan_village

While driving by the other day I noticed CEFCU has a new home in the back parking lot of Sheridan Village in what used to be a Shoe Carnival.  All that remains of the North wing is Ing’s Chinese, adjacent to Bergners and Hy-Vee has indicated that they will begin demolition as early as this month.  With Kroger across the street, Schnucks around the bend and Cub Food not far away, who do you think will suffer the most?  Can central Peoria really support another grocery store?  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

They are building a Schnucks out north off Allen Road. I would wager most of Schnucks current clientele live out that way. I predict that the Schnucks off University will close.

    Schnucks is a goner.

I hear good things about Hy Vee.

I still miss John B’s on Prospect and Ben Schwartz’s IGA on Sheridan & Glen.

Yeah, more stores are definitely needed; as soon as I buy groceries at one, I go to a different one and buy the same things.

Sheridan Village needs hy-vee everyone should be quite, we don’t want bergners lossing interest in being there because no else is there.

Ahh such hype over a super market. Only in Peoria.
I wonder….will the city require them to have a paid police officer watch their liquor department? Will they be required to carry only so many sq feet toward liquor? Will they have to have fresh produce?

Oh, sorry, that is only in south Peoria.

I’m surprised about Hy Vee. Maybe Schnucks will leave Sheridan R. I’m still surprised that Bergners can surpport two stores in Peoria. They must have long term cheap leases.
