What’s wrong with this picture? (or traffic light)

Sitting at red lights “live” sucks enough that I can’t believe I sat here and WATCHED a red light….

Did you keep pushing the walk button or something?

“Did you keep pushing the walk button or something?”
One would think, but no.
Here’s the strange thing – it doesn’t happen all the time as I originally thought. I filmed it in the morning, but the lights never changed. This one was filmed around 5 o’clock. I went back later in the evening and it wasn’t doing it. It is not timed with the Farmington Hill light either.
Anyone who drives down Main Street during the afternoon “rush hour” knows this light is screwed up.

Finally, Thank you for filming this. I have complained to the City for the last 2 weeks. I even blogged on it. The light changes for no reason whatso ever but in the early morning and late evenings, it seems to work as it should. I have nothing against the light as it is needed for people to cross safely and for the occasional car coming from either the deck or from Maplewood. I have sen traffic backed up through Farmington Rd with left turners off of Farmington blocking the intersection when that light turned green for west bound Main. there is no sync with either of these lights yet they are supposed to be state of the art computer controlled LAN connected traffic devices. I fear that NO ONE from the city has a clue on how to network these lights. They simply plug them in and go.

Maybe they have it on a different program script during rush hours?

I does no good to complain. Bill Spears, a member of the city council, uses to rail against the timing of street lights. There is NO ONE at city hall who is afraid of losing their job.

Is there some way you can describe what is going on in this video without me taking 8 minutes out of my light to watch?

Do you recall the game Red Light Green Light?

the new light on Allen Rd for Suds, Methodist & new subdivision does the same thing– no opposing traffic, but it still turns the Allen Rd light red. And this is a hundred yards or so after the Rt 6 light

At some point, you should check out the University / I-74 off-ramp intersection. It does the exact same thing, except what will happen is you sit there (coming off of I-74) for a good three or four minutes at a red light while there is no traffic coming down University.
